Here is a glance into just a few of the hair combs I have been making. Beautiful and simple. Great for girls and women. They will soon be added to my shop at this website: http://thebeadcloset.storenvy.com/
I'm always looking for new displays for in my shop and I love to alter pieces, so here is one of my newest projects.
I had this candle holder laying around my house moving from one box to another. I was about to send it to the thift shop when I decided I could do something with it. It was dark brown, so I got the spray paint out.

Next I sanded it down and made it shabby chic. I found these cute little turquoise dishes and glued them on. I than took some lace trim and tied knots and finished it off with little pearls and crytals dangling from the lace. Hope you enjoy!!

I have been in a creative mood lately. So the other day my good friend Michelle and I went treasure hunting through the thrift stores. My find was these silver platter trays that I paid $1 each for. So what shall I do next with them. I have a habbit of buying things that I think I will do something with and than it gets thrown into a box. But not this time!!
These are simple to make. These platters are also magnetic, so you could make it a magnet board instead if you wanted. You can even drill holes in them and add ribbon to hang them or put them on a stand like I have in the pictures.

What you will need:
Metal platters, (I picked these up at thrift store for $1 ea.)
primer spray paint
spray paint color (I used a cream and a turquoise color, which in the photo looks more blue)
Chalkboard paint (local hardware store)
paint brush (I use the sponge brushes)
Plus anything you want to add to it for decoration.

Step 1-3: Find platters and prime, than paint with color you want for your base.

Step 4: Paint on chalkboard paint (I did 3 coats letting it dry in between each coat.)

Step 5: Embellish with what ever you would like.

So I have been wanting to come up with some new displays for in my shop. This is what I did today. I started by scratch. Went to Home Depot picked up some wood, paint and nails and began my project. I cut them down to size I wanted screwed them together. I then painted with a brown primer and then I rub a cream paint over top. To finish it off I added brown little nails to hang jewelry off of. Enjoy the pics.Christinehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09460553616740130099noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1628532060073011294.post-79720280618200999482011-06-28T11:20:00.000-07:002011-06-28T11:20:28.815-07:00!!!ANNOUNCEMENT!!!Congratulations to Travis Dunton for winning the $25.00 Gift Certificate drawing we had.
"Carnival people" you ask. Yes, carnival people.

The britannica.com quotes this about Carnival: People.
"Carnival barkers, operators, and performers may seem like romantic people to youngsters, but many "carnies" are shrewd businessmen. They survey the financial condition of a community before renting the lot or posting the colorful show bills. They may obtain the sponsorship of local churches or charitable groups to gain goodwill and draw crowds".

See last week I had a couple come into my store to buy some jewelry supplies as they make feathered earrings and sell them in their travels, both of them were very toned, lets just say his arms were bulging and if he would not have been wearing a tank the arms on his shirt would have just ripped apart. As we were talking to each other he said they were not from here but from Salt lake city, just here visiting family in between stops. He said they were "Carnies", I right away think of your local fair slash parking lot carnivals that you see all the time, but that was not the case with these guys. They actually travel with the Circus a real circus. They travel all around the world and next month they will be in Australia. So I was super curious as to what they do in the circus, they are acrobats, (that explains the very toned arms) I was like "WOW" no way would I be able to do that. For starters I am totally afraid of heights and second totally out of shape. LOL). But he preceded to tell me that this is how is wife got back into shape after having their children. So I would be able to do it to, not a problem. "RIGHT"!!

Did you know that you can go to schooling to become a acrobat, I did not know that until I was researching this. But people actually go to school to be able to join the circus. I have a different outlook on circus people. I no longer will class them with your local fair slash parking lot carnies.

So I have come up with some inspiration for some new jewelry that I am going to make. Revolving all around the carnival but still keeping it romantic/vintage. Enjoy the pictures that have given me some inspiration. And as I finish my line of romantic carnival pieces I will list them for you to see.
It was a very long show, and it completely wiped me out!! I am so thankful my parents decided to come to town and take my boy home for a visit, because I am so going to need some R&R after this. Thank you to Paige and Chelsy for helping me at the expo, you rock!! Chelsy Boucher did the photography for the models and they turned out awesome. You can find her at www.bcouturephotography.com, she's wonderful with children.
We handed out some 2000 coupon cards at the expo, and we could have used more. Could not believe the stampedes through the doors!! In the last two days business has really picked up, so thank you ladys!!
It's a way of me stepping out of my real world and into a world of imagination, I love using my hands to design something new!
I love Sweet and Simple pieces. So I have put together a few collections of mine to share with you.
I have just recently opened my brick and mortar store and because of this I have not had the time to create any new pieces, but as things start to settle down and I get back into the groove of working full time I will find the time to start creating again!
Enjoy the pics.
LOL!! But I will eventually figure it out.
So today has been peacefully quiet here at The Bead Closet Boutique. So I have managed to get a few new things listed up on my store. It's been a long time, and I am sure my frequent customers are wanting to see something new.
So I listed my blue duck today, which I think is absolutely adorable for some unknown reason.
Maybe because he is fun and whimsical.
